Seattle Space Needle Turns Fifty.
The Seattle Space Needle turns fifty this year. Built for Seattle’s World Fair, it has become an icon synonymous with Seattle. It is in ever movie about Seattle (it even gets moved around graphically to better “fit” the skyline). It is a must see attraction for visitors to Washington. It has a interesting history. It is candelabra for Seattle’s new years fireworks. Some would say it is the jewel in Seattle’s emerald crown!
Seattle is an easy hour drive during non-peek periods. That means if you take off from Olympia after you have a great breakfast, you can easily miss the traffic, tour the Space Needle, maybe even squeeze in the Experience Music Project (EMP), or lunch at Pike Place Market, and be back on the road beating evening traffic back to Olympia. Your less hectic, small town base for your adventures in Washington!
