We had the conversation once with a server over the name of the pub. It can be either, as signs inside the pub attest, along with two streams of reviews on a couple of review sites. So regardless of what you call it you need to know that the pub is nearly always busy. Do not let this put you off. Tables open up and there is a whole balcony of seating as well. The food, for a pub, is great tasting comfort food for the most part. Burger, Fish and Chips (salmon or cod), fries that are hot...Read More

Historical Bed and Breakfast with Day Spa in walking distance to downtown Olympia. One of only three bed and breakfasts in Olympia. A very unique mansion with a modern day spa on-site. Featuring four guest rooms, all with private bathrooms, king beds and seating. Of course a highlight is the three course gourmet breakfast offered each morning. It puts the local hotels breakfast offerings to shame, and you may even be skipping lunch. The Inn has just finished an expansion and now features, The Grand Victorian Ballroom, an event space for small meetings and intimate weddings up to 65...Read More

A forest services pass is needed for the parking area (these cost about $5 for the...Read More
During the third weekend in July we have Capital Lakefair. The carnival rides move in to Heritage Park and surrounding streets are shut down for food vendors and the like. Recognizing our youth and seniors and also giving local non-profits the opportunity to fund raise and be seen, Lakefair has over a 50 year history. From humble beginning before the park even existed to today’s week long event, capped off with a spectacular fireworks display. Make sure you see the grand parade, the kit car races, or participate in the run. There is so much to do and experience! Visit...Read More

We shall have to see if the author, Ryan, is interested in contributing here. We shall see if this little blog post comes up on his radar! In the meantime let us hope he keeps adding to Walk...Read More
What is Basecamp?
Olympia is your Basecamp to the surrounding area! It is the ideal place to base yourself for a few days while you explore the region. The Olympic National Park, Mount Rainier, Mount St Helens, the coast, even Seattle are all great day trips from Olympia.
Why not stay a week, one day traveling out of town and the the next staying in town and see a show, visit the Capital, wander Percival Landing, feel the vibe of the Farmers Market.
